London: Savoy Grill to reopen October 2010

Chef Director, Stuart Gillies (Boxwood Café), alongside Head Chef Andy Cook, have created a menu that is inspired by classic British and French dishes of old.

The menu will offer starters such as boudin blanc foie gras with spiced quince and King Crab cocktail, whilst main courses will include Lobster Thermidor and Beef Wellington from the trolley. Peach Melba, which was famously invented by Escoffier at The Savoy, will make a welcomed return to the dessert menu.

A private dining room will be available for up to 40 guests and the restaurant will also feature an exclusive Chef’s Table situated in the kitchen.

The Russell Sage Studio is responsible for the restoration and design of the dining room and has been careful to preserve the room’s original table plan which features the favourite tables of celebrated figures in history such as Sir Winston Churchill, Oscar Wilde, Charlie Chaplin, Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe.

Details such as original 1920’s Art Deco lighting, lustrous wood panelling, antique mirrors, luxurious mohair velvet coverings and gold leaf lined turtle shell-clad walls will bring a new level of comfort to the room whilst at the same time restoring it to its former glory.
