The Vegetarian Cookery School

The School
Opened in 2001 The Vegetarian Cookery School, set in the beautiful spa city of Bath, is run by professional chef and restaurateur Rachel Demuth- a pioneer of vegetarian, vegan and organic cooking. Rachel specialises in unpretentious, creative and healthy food for anyone wishing to learn to cook without fish or meat, and translates the approach to her cookery school.

The Courses
These are highly instructive, hands on courses, catering for mixed abilities- from the greenest beginner to the highly experienced. Courses aim to provide inspiration and ideas that are easily achievable back at home, through a mix of hands-on cooking and demonstration, with an emphasis on simplicity and fun. The range of topics covered in the day-long courses is broad- enabling guests to take advantage of a programme featuring everything from Middle Eastern Mezze to Southrn Indian Thali.

Practical Info
Each course caters for a maximum of 12 people cooking 10 different dishes on each day. At the end of the day students enjoy the food they've created along with organic wines. One-day courses run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and cost £125. The course fee includes all ingredients and a course recipe folder, use of all equipment, aprons etc. and lunch with organic wine.
