Craig Butcher
Growing up in Hong Kong, to New Zealand parents, and being schooled in England, Craig has developed an insatiable appetite for the two greatest things in life -- travel and food. Constantly seeking to combine the two, recent trips have taken him to Vietnam, Colombia and Italy though he is frequently returned to Marylebone, London to "work" in between these holidays.

Craig has dabbled in sports writing for The Wisden Cricketer, fed his appetite for travel at The Sunday Times Travel Magazine, and ensured future interview awkwardness for evermore after a stint contributing to Nuts magazine. This awkwardness is partly offset by a previous life editing and commissioning serious law books for Thomson-Reuters which arguably offered less in the way of titillation.

With a 'will try anything' approach to both food and travel, Craig's key interests are in coffee, tea and anything else that offers a jaw-dropping array of variety. He understandably has an unhealthy fascination for dim sum, street food and tall buildings. Craig has contributed to a number of publications on the subject of food and travel including Sainsbury's Magazine, delicious., Decanter, Waitrose Illustrated, the Evening Standard and Channel 4 online."

In anticipation of a long, hot, British summer I stay close to home dropping by Le Cafe Anglais where Rowley Leigh  - just turned 60 - shares future plans  for the restaurant and role as poster boy for the forthcoming Picota cherry season. Across town, at The Lanesborough, Heinz Beck's elegant summer menu is served. Go there for the chaud-froid Herbal infusion with tuna tartare and green tea sorbet - more Mediterranean gluttony than molecular gastronomy.

Taking 1st prize is Noma in Copehagen knocking El Bulli off the top spot and sending a ripple effect through the chart. Heston moves down to 3rd place. Hibiscus is in, by a whisker, at number 49 leaving the total number of Brits in the top 50 at a mere three.
