Manju Malhi
Manju Malhi has her own unique 'Brit-Indi' style of cuisine, showing the world quick and easy Indian recipes made with readily available ingredients and simple methods. She has effortlessy combined a western background with an eastern upbringing to become a leading expert on Indian food and culture both in the UK and in India. She is a regular on TV and has also appeared amongst several other programmes, on ITV’s Saturday Cooks and This Morning, UKTV Food’s Great Food Live, Market Kitchen and BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen. Her media career took her recently to India for the filming of a mammoth forty-part series cooking Brit food in India, entitled ‘Cooking Isn’t Rocket Science’ Manju’s first book, the award winning ‘Brit Spice’ is published by Penguin Books. Her second book ‘India with Passion’ covers regional Indian home cuisine. Her latest offering ‘Easy Indian Cookbook’ explores new ideas which she hopes will encourage more and more people to experiment with spices.

In anticipation of a long, hot, British summer I stay close to home dropping by Le Cafe Anglais where Rowley Leigh  - just turned 60 - shares future plans  for the restaurant and role as poster boy for the forthcoming Picota cherry season. Across town, at The Lanesborough, Heinz Beck's elegant summer menu is served. Go there for the chaud-froid Herbal infusion with tuna tartare and green tea sorbet - more Mediterranean gluttony than molecular gastronomy.

Foodtripper met the most lauded chefs on earth at The World's Fifty Best Restaurant Awards. Taking 1st prize is Noma in Copehagen knocking El Bulli off the top spot and sending a ripple effect through the chart. Heston moves down to 3rd place. Hibiscus is in, by a whisker, at number 49 leaving the total number of Brits in the top 50 at a mere three.
