Helen Hokin's August Picks

In August, Foodtripper journeys to Northern Finland, south of the Arctic Circle, staying at Arola Farm with ex dairy farmers Helena and Eero Sappanen. Close by lies Martinselkonen National Park, a Tolkeinesque wilderness where shy bears roam the forest, beavers create their chaos on the riverbanks and capercaillie can be spotted in the trees. The Food Room & Library in Pimlico, London is running a 'Gain Confidence in Cooking Course' throughout August, September and October. Ideal for rookies or students looking for more than beans on toast and basic survival. More here
Daygustation has a fantastic Tuscany-based course 'The Winemakers Apprentice' runs from 17th September to 4th October. Come to Italy and play at being winemaker for the day. More here
