FORTNUM & MASON’S PUMPKIN CARVING COMPETITION 2012
The fiendishly frightening and fiercely fought competition is back by popular demand
This Hallowe’en, Fortnum & Mason is once more giving everyone the opportunity to test their carving and artistic skills in store on Wednesday 31st October, with Pumpkin Carving Competitions for both adults and children. All winners will feature in Fortnum’s famous Piccadilly windows for all the world to see.
The Children’s Competition for ages up to 10 will take place between 3pm and 5pm in the Demonstration Kitchen on the first floor of Fortnum & Mason, with judging at 4 o’clock. Ghoulish treats will be offered and the winner can enjoy a crate of Splendid Sweets. The adult competition is between 6pm and 8pm at the Ground Floor Gallery Restaurant, with judging taking place at 7pm and the winner receiving a £1000 Fortnum & Mason hamper.
The winners of both competitions will be selected by an esteemed panel of judges including Simon Burdess, Trading Director at Fortnum & Mason, food writer, Xanthe Clay, Sophie Goodwin from Tatler magazine and the British photographer Carl Warner who is famed for his amazing ‘foodscapes’. They will award points based on Skill, Scariness, Creativity and Luminosity in order to decide who will take the 2012 carving crown.
The children’s competition is free to enter, with tickets for the adult competition costing £10, with proceeds going to The Prince’s Trust.
