The event will ensure an authentic Burns Night atmosphere with traditional Scottish bands, pipers, food and a complimentary dram of Talisker to toast the legendary Robert Burns. Held in a waterside location in St Katherine’s Dock, the event will also bring to life the exhilarating sensation of being by the sea as experienced by RNLI volunteer crew-members on a daily basis.
Along with many Burns Night traditions on the evening, the Talisker Burns Night bash will celebrate Robert Burns’ ability to tell a great story. The event will feature renditions of Talisker Tales with inspirational yachtsman Pete Goss, comedy poet Luke Wright and volunteer RNLI crew-members telling tales of adventure from the sea.
Guests will also have the opportunity for a unique and intimate tasting of different Talisker bottlings on the water with an expert from the Talisker distillery.
Talisker and the RNLI both share an affinity with the sea. Distilled by the edge of the sea on the shores of the Isle of Skye since 1830, the Talisker distillery attracts thousands of sailors each year. The RNLI was established in 1824 and its lifeboats help to rescue thousands of people each year. Today visitors to the rugged coast-line of Skye are assured by the presence of the RNLI lifeboat station in Portree.
