From September 4-13, visitors to south east London’s wine tasting centre Vinopolis can sample some of the finest wines from Languedoc-Roussillon (the world’s single largest wine-producing region) as part of their tour. Red, white, sparkling, sweet, or rosé, the diverse range of Sud de France is sure to please.

Additionally, on Thursday September 10 from 6.30 pm, wine expert and journalist Charles Metcalfe will be hosting a tasting of Sud de France wines, accompanied by a free Mediterranean buffet of Sud de France fine foods.

Vinopolis is at No.1 Bank End, London SE1; for cost details and to register, call 020 7940 8300 or visit

Sud de France food showcase at Harrods Food Hall: August 31 – September 13

From the vast, open plains of the Lozère in the north, to the beaches of the Mediterranean coast, to the rugged peaks of the Pyrénées-Orientales, the diversity of the Languedoc-Roussillon landscape is reflected in its local produce and culinary traditions.

From August 31 – September 13, Harrods Food Hall will be hosting a showcase of over a hundred food products from the Sud de France/Languedoc-Roussillon region, giving lucky Londoners the chance to sample sun-kissed, healthy, natural produce (free tastings will be held over three days, Wednesday September 9 – Friday September 11).

On display will be a host of crops that thrive in Languedoc’s temperate Mediterranean climate, including sun-ripened fruit such as white and yellow peaches, juicy nectarines and apples, and sweet, white grapes.

Fresh from the waters of the Med come briny oysters, plump mussels, sardines and marinated anchovies; ideal for the barbecue are AOC bull steaks and skewers, tender Catalan lamb, and veal raised in the Pyrenees. Or pick up some perfect picnic-basket fillers, like Pélardon goat cheese, olive- and tomato-based pastes, spreads and jams, vegetable crisps, and a host of other top-quality Languedoc products that will have foodies licking their lips.

Sud de France cookery course at L’Atelier des Chefs September 4-13

From September 4-13, learn to cook authentic Sud de France recipes such as honey-glazed duck breast with a salad of endive, walnuts and lardoons; pan-fried sea bream with olive oil mash, grilled courgette and lemon zest; or foie gras with glazed apples, water cress and boudin noir.

Prepare your dish and then savour it, accompanied by a free glass of Languedoc-Roussillon wine, at London’s Atelier des Chefs (in central London, just off Oxford Street).

Prices start from £18 for a half-hour lesson; contact L’Atelier des Chefs on 020 7499 6580 or see
