Introduce yourself to the Whitstable Natives – the locals are pretty friendly, too
Whitstable is the South East’s centre for all things ‘oyster’. Known locally as ‘Whitstable Natives’, the oysters here are large, juicy and second to none when cooked with a splash of lemon, a crushed garlic clove or two, a knob of golden butter and a side of crusty warm bread to soak up the ‘liquor’. Once you’ve eaten, soak up the local atmosphere with core events such as Grotter building, the Landing of the Oysters, the Blessing of the Waters, Oyster Parade, Morris dancers, and much more.
