Beyond the Great Wall: the secrets of Chinese Cuisine

We Brits might not be strangers to Chinese food but do we really know our lotus root from our lychee? And why do certain regions depend on rice while others harvest wheat for pancakes and delicious steamed buns? Which foods symbolise longevity, fertility and wealth? There's only one way to get under the surface of this country's incredible cuisine; go and taste it all for yourself.
 
The Delicious China Tour 2010, from China Holidays, traces the culinary traditions from Beijing in the northeast, through the central mainland via Xi'an and Chengdu, concluding at the seafood centre of Guangzhou on the south east coast.
 
This hands-on tour will have you serving your own homemade dumplings to Beijing locals, roasting duck in the kitchen of a bustling city restaurant and recreating the recipes enjoyed by Chinese Royalty.
