Summer in the Serengeti

From June onward, intrepid travellers can stay in the new Bilila Lodge Kempinski in Tanzania's UNESCO Serentgeti National Park. The 74-room hotel is well equipped with facilities including an infinity pool and the Antara Spa- yet the design remains sympathetic to the natural landscape. Local materials are used extensively, and the interior showcases a number of indigenous artworks.

Whilst the rooms boast everything from en-suite bathrooms and DVD players to teak decks and private pools, you'll want to venture into the communal areas- to the hotel's lounge, bar, wine cellar, library, barbecue area, art gallery, or simply to try some African cuisine at the restaurant. Further afield, the hotel's rangers head up game drives and organise Champagne breakfasts in the bush. Real enthusiasts can sign up for a two-centre holiday, which additionally takes in Bilila's sister property- Zamani Zanzibar Kempinski- visit www.kempinski.com for details.
