London: Little Venice Beach

This April sees the launch of ‘Little Venice Beach’, London’s very own summer hotspot set on the idyllic banks of the Little Venice Canal.
Forget the muscles and Hollywood wannabes and think seafood, barges and leafy British summertime with the return of last year’s most innovative pop-up, The Summerhouse. Back by popular demand, the nautical themed restaurant is open again for a seven month period (from April until the end of October) serving delicious seafood in a space reminiscent of a Hampton’s beach house. ‘Little Venice Beach’ will also include sister restaurant The Waterway  serving up a new outdoor barbeque menu on their popular al fresco dining terrace.
The Summerhouse restaurant’s light and airy décor is based around the large Long Island seafront houses that well-heeled New Yorkers retreat to during the sweltering summer months. The wall have a clean, whitewashed appearance and blue and white stripes and checks, will be used throughout to create an atmosphere of comfortable beachside chic.
The Summerhouse has its own boat mooring space so those making river trips can stop off and enjoy a leisurely riverside meal - and this year the restaurant is also offering boat trips to diners so they can really enjoy the beauty of the Little Venice canal.
Also new for this year is Brunch at The Summerhouse, where diners can enjoy a leisurely morning with dishes such as Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes with Maple Syrup, Granola with Natural Yoghurt and Berries, Eggs Benedict and Bloody Marys.
Summer is the time to enjoy seafood and The Summerhouse will offer everything from fish and chips to mussels.  Starters will include; Clam & Sweetcorn Chowder, Spiced Yellow Fin Tuna Carpaccio and Best Ever Popcorn Shrimp with Sweet Chilli Sauce.    Choose from a selection of mains such as Salmon & Smoked Haddock Fish Cakes with Poached Egg, Asparagus and Hollandaise, or the signature, The Summerhouse Fish Pie with salmon, prawns, cod, haddock and fresh summer herbs.  For those looking for a lighter lunch there will be a delicious selection of salads and sharing dishes offered.  Round off the perfect summertime meal with some truly indulgent desserts including, Knickerbocker Glory, Pimms Jelly with Vanilla Ice Cream and Watermelon and Strawberry Platter.
There will be an extensive and refreshing drinks menu at the Summerhouse including retro soft drinks such as Cream Soda and Root Beer.  Cocktails will include Lavender Stem a delicate blend of lavender, vanilla and raspberry vodka and topped with champagne; the Waterway Sangria, a local adaptation of the classic cocktail made with rosè wine, apple juice, brandy, Grand Marnier and lashings of fresh fruit and Strawberry & Basil Mojito with fresh organic strawberries, basil, mint and strawberry infused vodka.  A great international wine selection will also be available, with a particular emphasis on rosé, white and sparkling wines.
The popular Waterway just a few paces from The Summerhouse and is open throughout the year. It hosts one of London’s greatest outdoor spaces with spectacular views across the beautiful Grand Union Canal, seating up to 120 people on the terrace on a warm summer day. As well as an extensive summer terrace menu, this year The Waterway will launch a delicious BBQ menu including dishes such as Grilled Salmon Fillet with Guacamole, Bruschetta and a Spiced Tomato Dressing; Merguez Sausages served in Pitta Bread with Minted Yoghurt and a Cherry Tomato Salsa and the barbeque staple, a gourmet Waterway Burger with a  Mustard Mayonnaise and Mixed Leaf Salad.
Brought to London by leading dining operators, First Restaurant Group, The Summerhouse is their second venue in leafy Maida Vale.  The popular Waterway is located just a few paces away and has a constant demand for outside tables during the summer months.  The Summerhouse will offer an additional 60 covers and is situated directly on the water. It will however, have its own very distinct identity in comparison to its sister venue.
Once closed on 31st October the venue will become a dedicated events space until reopening next spring.  It will be ideal for any type of event, whether private or corporate. It can accommodate up to 100 people and offers great views and outside space.
