Zurich: Dolder Grand wins second Michelin Star

The Restaurant was awarded this accolade for its innovative cuisine led by Chef Fine Dining Heiko Nieder. The secret of his style is his large array of flavours, which go beyond classic expectations of taste. Surprising, light dishes characterise the menus, which range from business lunches to elaborate seven course and à la carte dinners. The five course ‘amuse bouche’ menu offers a gastronomic tour of haute cuisine with delicate samplers from across the fine dining menu.
Heiko Nieder has held the position of Chef Fine Dining at The Dolder Grand's The Restaurant since its opening in 2008.  Born in Germany, Nieder's talents won him the Gault Millau title of 'Discovery of the Year' in 2003.  The Restaurant was awarded 17 Gault Millau points in October 2008 and one Michelin Star in November 2008.
Thomas Schmid, Managing Director of the Dolder Grand said, “Heiko Nieder saw us through the reopening. We are delighted and proud that his culinary aplomb has now earned this recognition."
The Restaurant seats 54 and offers a private dining room, lounge bar and terrace overlooking Lake Zurich. It serves both lunch and dinner Tuesday to Friday, dinner on Saturday and is closed Sunday to Monday.
For foodies seeking to celebrate Christmas in style, The Dolder Grand Christmas Deluxe package includes one night’s accommodation in a Junior Suite Deluxe, a seven course Christmas menu with mulled wine, foie gras ‘crème brûlée’ and pheasant, Christmas brunch and a one hour Massage Therapy or Facial by Kerstin Florian.  It is priced at 1,970 CHF (approximately £1,250 GBP) based on two people sharing.
In addition to The Restaurant, The Dolder Grand features the bright and cosmopolitan Garden Restaurant, open all day every day, under the direction of Executive Chef Gion Fetz and offering panoramic views across the city of Zurich, the Lake and the Alps.  Meanwhile the lobby serves English afternoon tea with harpist accompaniment during the festive period and The Bar allows guests the opportunity to indulge in cocktails, signature drinks, and exciting delicacies such as “The Caviar Staircase”.
