Cape Town: Nobu opens at One&Only

One&Only Cape Town is an epicurean haven thanks to South Africa’s most impressive wine collection, Nobuyuki Matsuhisa’s signature Japanese-inspired menu – brought to Africa for the first time with the launch of a Nobu restaurant at the resort and the new opening of Reuben’s at One&Only Cape Town - on 1 October 2010.
Internationally recognised for his award-winning restaurants in the Franschhoek wine valley, Reuben’s at One&Only Cape Town will serve wholesome bistro fare made from locally-sourced produce.
The One&Only Cape Town wine experience is an educative, interactive, multi-faceted one, serving as an exceptional introduction to the region’s vineyards. There are 5,000 bottles in the Wine Loft, from prestigious older vintages of Cape classics to newer wineries in emerging terroirs, showcased in a magnificent glass library, taking visitors on a tantalising journey through the Cape Winelands.
When creating the wine list, emphasis was placed on terroir and regional styles, rather than labels and brand names - a unique approach for New World wines. With almost 100 labels available by the glass, tasting sessions will be offered at the Chef’s Table, accompanied by one of the Sommeliers, and complemented by a six, eight or ten-course maze tasting menu.
Connecting the eateries together is the dynamic lobby lounge and bar, Vista, with a magnificent three-storey clear glass wall highlighting the scenic Table Mountain views. A third restaurant, Island Terrace located outdoors on The Villa Island is available for more casual dining as well as special events.
One&Only Cape Town is the first luxury hotel to open in Cape Town in nearly a decade and offers a range of accommodation, including 91 rooms in the chic crescent-shaped Marina Rise with stunning views of Table Mountain and 40 suites on a lush green landscaped island. The resort’s rooms and suites - the most spacious in Cape Town with a minimum size of 60 square metres - all have a private terrace or balcony, and two of the suites offer their own ensuite spa treatment rooms to afford guests maximum privacy and relaxation.
Additionally, three stunning, two-storey 800-square metre residential penthouses, accessed by private lifts, set the benchmark for residential luxury living in South Africa. With four bedrooms and substantial terraces with pools, these outstanding properties are located on the top two floors of the Marina Rise, thereby taking full advantage of the iconic views of the marina as well as two World Heritage sites: Table Mountain and Robben Island. The owners of the penthouses benefit from an array of personalised services from the resort, including a concierge, butler, housekeeper, private catering from Nobu and access to the spa and fitness centre.
