A stash of the allegedly 'sold out' 1977 Highland Park Bicentenary Vintage is being released onto the British market. First issued in 1998, the complex single malt is a real collector's item, and Highland Park believe it is high time the remaining stocks were repatriated. The 21 year-old vintage should be a corker- receiving 9.5/10 from the late, great Michael Jackson in Whisky Magazine, with ascribed descriptors including liquid honey, smoky peat, and rich fruit cake. With just 694 bottles available, aficionados should start saving their pennies- the latest release is packaged in a Japanese-inspired presentation box, and retails at £250 from the Highland Park Distillery shop and online at www.highlandpark.co.uk. The good news is that the first release now regularly fetches upwards of £300 at auction- look on it as an investment for an uncertain future!
