Young Commis Chef of the Year 2009

Wednesday June 3rd, saw the national final of the 34th Chaine des Rotisseurs International Young Commis Chef of the Year in association with Gaggenau.

20-years-old Thomas Helyer, a young chef at Kinnaird Hotel & Sporting Estate, took home the title of Great Britain's Young Commis Chef of the Year 2009 - first prize in his first ever competition.

22-year-old Cameron Bradshaw, a young chef at Millstream Hotel & Restaurant in Bosham/Chichester, came second place. Craig McCarron, a young chef at La Bonne Auberge in Glasgow, came third in the competition all winning a finalist medal and framed certificate, Gaggenau wine cooler, set of Anolon Pans, Wuesthof knife set and Bragard chef's jacket.

The winners were part of 5 contestants (all under the age of 27) from the regional heat who created a 3-course meal for 4 using a previously undisclosed 'market basket' of ingredients.
