About Us

Helen is the founder and editor of Foodtripper.com and Foodtripper TV - an online magazine and TV production company ‘for people who travel to eat’.

An expert and opinion former on gourmet travel, Helen has travelled the world for glossy magazines and now for her own publication, researching and writing cutting edge food stories. From Michelin Starred chefs to Mumbai street food, she has interviewed the people behind the world’s most diverse and interesting food stories.

As Editor, Helen sets the strategy and commissions freelance journalists to travel the world in search of suitable features for Foodtripper.com. Helen has also written and presented an hour-long food show about Miami for the Travel Channel which includes scoop interviews with the likes of New York’s three Michelin Star chef, Daniel Bouloud and North America’s big telly celebrity chefs, Emerill Lagasse and Bobby Flay.

As a recognised expert in her field, Helen often joins expert panels. She has presented for Travel Channel, contributed to UKTV Food’s Market Kitchen, offered expert comment to The Independent newspaper’s expert food panels, judged the Courvoisier World Punch Awards, the National Chilli Cook Off, The Great Taste Awards, The World Cheese Championships, The Grocer Own Label Awards, The Best Hotel in Cheshire and been a panelist at The Abergavveny Food Festival’s Great Food Tourism Debate. She is judge for Best Food Book 2010 for the Guild of Food Writers

Before launching Foodtripper in May 2009, Helen worked as a food and travel journalist for a number of glossy magazines, notably as Food Editor and restaurant critic for Food & Travel Magazine, as restaurant inspector for the ‘Which? Good Food Guide’ and contributor to titles including Caterer & Hotelkeeper, Journey, and Channel4.com/food, to name a few.

She has travelled relentlessly. Combining food, history and culture she has carved a niche as a global, gourmet traveller, seeking out the unique, the authentic and traditional culinary stories that the world has left behind.

From giant sea urchins in Valparaiso, to sea horses wiggling on lollipop sticks in Beijing. From eating chuck-wagon chilli under the stars in the Rocky Mountains, to deer stalking a roe buck for dinner in Argyll, she has literally eaten her way around the real world bringing her adventures to life on magazine pages, TV and the web

A love of the great outdoors, real people stories and the provenance of food drives her. She would rather be fly-fishing for her supper than toughing it out in a spa resort.

More walking boots than stilettoes, camp-fire than Chef’s table, she will literally climb a mountain to explore a new culinary landscape.

Helen has an M.Sc. in Hotel & Catering Management and an M.A. in French Language & Literature
